Effects of dietary concentrate: forage ratio on development of gastrointestinal tract in black Tibetan sheep

This study aims to evaluate the effects of dietary concentrate: forage ratio (C:F) on development gastrointestinal tract in Tibetan lamb. A total 60 healthy two-month-old weaned black sheep (approximately 10.50 kg initial body weight) were assigned three treatments and fed C:F 70:30 (HC group), 50:50 (MC group) 30:70 (LC group). Using haematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, morphological results showed that increase roughage level from 30 70% exerts a positive effect forestomach including rumen, reticulum omasum, especially papillae muscle layer. Both submucosa thickness layer abomasum are significantly increased LC group when compared with HC group. Moreover, mucosal small intestine is higher than group, whereas crypt depth These data suggest levels promote growth by changing papilla, thickness, concentrate can be supplemented up 30% fulfil nutrient requirements without restriction tract.
